We had a barn cat named Mama Kitty and we had cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, goats, and ducks. These were our first cows, the black one was afraid of my dad and tried charging him while he was sitting on the tractor. After these we had a black and white (possibly a Holstein) that we called “Annabelle” who we really felt was a pet. They lived in California, but I saw them frequently. The would often come for 4 weeks at a time and stay at two local camp grounds; their campers got nicer over time. We would raft with Grandpa down Hell Gate Canyon, grandma would pick us up in the SUV and drive us back to the boat launch. Grandma was a prankster and loved to do sewing and crafts. Occasionally, they would visit in the winter and during those trips grandpa taught me how to snow ski. The playground equipment had just been installed at this park when we bought our house. We have at least 10 parks or playgrounds within a 2 mile bike ride. One summer we tried to visit as many different parks as we could. One of the things that drew me to buying our house was the kitchen. We had a list of attributes that we wanted in a house- a 3 car garage, a basement, and a room to do laundry in. He usually slept in the sunroom, but it had no heat, so slept in the girl’s room with his mattress tucked under the bunk bed when it was cold. Our house was mostly underground with a sunroom in the back that overlooking the Applegate Valley. The room was was later expanded to have a bedroom, 1.5 baths, a family room, and garage. The house was literally covered with several feet of dirt.
